Faculty of Medicine UGM holds an alumni gathering on Saturday (14/10) in the auditorium of the Faculty. The event was joined by alumni who achieved successes in government agencies, military, or entrepreneurship, such as dr. Yulianto Prabowo, M.Kes (Head of Central Java Health Agency), dr. Gideon Hartono (founder of K-24 pharmacist and Director of Hi-Lab Diagnostic Center), and Colonel Ckm dr. Tjuk Dwi Sardadi. Other alumni were dr. M. Bayu Sasongko, Sp.M., M.Epid., Ph.D, dr. Kirana Pritasari, MQIH, Prof. dr. Budi Mulyono, Sp.PK(K)., MM, and Sri Hidayati.
Each of the alumni described their career in government agencies, research, hospitals, or medical education, and humanitarian work. The alumni also provided tracer study session and socialisation of alumni websites to enhance the alumni networks.
UGM Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Alumni, Dr. Paripurna, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M., welcomed the event because it could unite their wishes, prospects, and goals.
“By identifying these aspects since the beginning, alumni can be better prepared,” he said.
Paripurna added that determining their main career had to follow their passion, hence they will be have high spirit and responsibility to do their job.
Another alumni, Yunita Sari, lecturer and owner of KIZU clinic, said find your passion was the main essence of the event. If one already found their passion, they will love what they do.
“Find your passion and you will love the science and your profession,” she said.
Similarly, dr. Yodi Christiani (founder of a research institute) said that since the start of study or graduation, people need to look for their passion and determine their goals. Yodi stated that it was important not to get satisfied very quickly.
“This is the first time event ever run by Faculty of Medicine UGM. I hope this would be a forum for the students and alumni to get a new outlook on the world of work which will raise alternatives in the career of their choice,” he said.
