Koesnadi Hardjasoemantri Cultural Centre of Universitas Gadjah Mada also celebrates the 68th anniversary of the university by organising an art exhibition, titled Removing the Frames – Opening the Partition that displays works of alumni, lecturers, and staff from UGM from 11-16 December 2017 in the Exhibition Room.
Manager of the Centre, Hamada Adzani, said the exhibition was selected to be the title because it was felt that currently the society was being fragmented into certain interest groups that eventually formed partitions. This event is also to invite people to get out of the paradigm and limitations through arts as an alternative medium.
Chairman of the Centre, Prof. Dr. Faruk, S.U, expressed his excitement that the event was responded positively. Faruk hoped the exhibition would become a regular event for UGM anniversary.
“If done regularly, those that want to take part in the exhibition may be able to prepare themselves well,” he said. He added this exhibition would show that lecturers, staff, and alumni proved to be able to produce some work, not just work academically.
Response to the exhibition was given by one visitor, Nanda Widyasari, a Social and Political Sciences student. She said she appreciated the event very much while the theme of the exhibition was interesting and how participants visualised that theme. Engineering student, Ananda Prabu, hoped similar events could be held regularly each year and exhibit more works of art.
