Faculty of Economics and Business UGM has established a cooperation with Banking Profession Certification Institute (LSPP) in organising banking certification preparation project.
The project will run at the Faculty through Research and Training of Economics and Business (P2EB).
Memorandum of Understanding was signed on the training and certification preparations. The signing was done by the Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business, Eko Suwardi, M.Sc., Ph.D., on Wednesday (21/2).
Eko said the cooperation was an important and beneficial thing for the Faculty of Economics and Business as it was in line with the mission to generate graduates with good characters and competence.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Association of Indonesian Bankers (IBI), Zulkifli Zaini, witnessing the signing, said the training to be done would benefit students or others that want to have a career in banking because certification needs to be done by banking workers.
“In line with the rules set by the Financial Services Authorities (OJK), one that works in banking sector has to have a minimum of one certification, without this we cannot work,” said Zulkifli.
On IBI, he said in the past 10 years, IBI had worked with various stakeholders from practitioners or academics to prepare the standards for someone working in a bank, including standard on risk management.
“Many types of expertise have to be owned to work in the banking sector,” he added.
He explained the IBI through the LSPP had produced 9 certifications by doing competence test based on National Work Competence Standard (SKKNI). The training to be given by UGM is to target the people that want to do this competence test.
Later in the day, he gave a general lecture to students of Faculty of Economics and Business UGM and others. The topic of the lecture was Disciplines of Execution for Sustainable Success. He shared his experience as a banker for over 20 years and shared tips for success through leadership and good performance.
