To celebrate the 72 anniversary of Faculty of Law UGM, alumni of class of 1996 collaborating with Law Career Development Center hosted Career Day on Friday (23/2).
Career Day event presented speakers such as lawyer Otto Hasibuan, Social Enterpreneur and founder of Mikrohidro Indonesia, Tri Mumpuni, Co-Founder Salesstock.com, Stanislaus Tandelilin,and founder of Dowabag, Delia Murwihartini. They shared their experiences to success to the participants.
“When you see someone is successful, don’t look at the success only, but how he achieved it, it’s not easy,” said Otto Hasibuan.
He recounted his career as a lawyer. Despite the challenges he had faced, he occupied the profession as one that he liked.
“Don’t get affected by what others are doing. Ask yourself what you want, don’t go with the flow,” said the lawyers who have various types of clients from state officials to celebrities.
Similarly, Delia Murwihartini said UGM graduates had enough capitals to work in an area of their interest. So, they need not fear to have any career.
“The road is long and winding. I know those are all challenges, but they should be our stepping stone to move forward,” said Delia that started a small creative business until big market as far as the US and Europe.
Meanwhile, Stanislaus encouraged UGM students to provide themselves with things outside their classroom, such as public speaking. He said this was a positive value that would attract the interest of recruiter.
He said university graduates need also to have tough character and adaptable to changes. Amidst the fast changes, this character is one that determines somebody’s success.
