Universitas Gadjah Mada has invited its new students to get closer to various Student Activity Units and communities at the university through Gelanggang Expo (Gelex) exhibition.
Gelex ran for three days from August 16 to 18, 2018 at Student Hall UGM. There were 51 student activity units, Student Executive Council, Student Senate, and eight student communities joining the event.
“This event aims to introduce the student activity units and communities at UGM, also to provide a forum for them to recruit new members,” stated Chairman of Gelex 2018, Pancapurna Satya Jalu Thatit, in a release received on Monday (8/20).
This year’s exhibition carries the theme Ragam Warna Gelanggang Wujudkan Indonesia Gemilang. Jalu explained the theme reflected the diversity of Indonesia as well as activity units at UGM.
Gelex 2018 was launched by the Rector, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., Ph.D. In the opening, Gadjah Mada Chamber Orchestra and Student Choir performed several Indonesian folk songs. Moreover, with musical accompaniment, several student representatives showcased their respective culture by wearing traditional clothes.
