Rapid technological development, especially Information Technology, should be anticipated and put to use. Therefore, Faculty of Animal Sciences UGM chose the theme of Animal Sciences Welcomes Industry 4.0 in commemoration of its 49th Anniversary.
It was stated by the faculty’s Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU, when opening the anniversary commemoration on Sunday (8/26) at the campus yard. “Technological development is a necessity. We must be able to employ technology, especially in animal sciences, rather than being used by it,” said Ali.
He added the faculty kept this year’s commemoration simple because it is focusing on the golden anniversary in 2019. “Next year we prepare an international conference to realize the goal of becoming the Best 10 in tropical countries. Faculty of Animal Sciences UGM has been internationally accredited, so we will also prepare international prequalification students,” he explained.
Family gathering as the opening event also intended to build compassion among the extended family of Animal Sciences UGM who were present, including lecturers, education staff and their family, partners, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students. “Spirit built from this gathering will foster students to become reliable and remarkable graduates.
Chairman of the Anniversary event, Dr. Ir. Sigit Bintara, M.Si., IPM, said this year’s commemoration will include several events, including “Social service, livestock competition partnering with Kulon Progo Regency Government, sports competition, retirement seminar, national seminar, and ends with the Anniversary on 10 November 2018,” explained Sigit.
