PT Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) handed over their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme worth Rp900 million to Universitas Gadjah Mada. This was presented by Director of Technology and Operations of PT Bank Syariah Mandiri, Achmad Syafii, to Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., after signing of a memorandum of understanding event in higher learning missions.
The funds will be used for economic development programme of Islamic boarding schools worth Rp500 million done by Faculty of Animal Sciences UGM. Another Rp300 million will be spent for the room construction of Al Ardhu mosque at Faculty of Geography, while the remaining Rp100 million for scholarships for Vocational School students.
Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, in his remarks welcomed the CSR programme from BSM for education, research, and community service projects. “On behalf of UGM, I would like to extend our gratitude for the CSR programme to help UGM in the development of education, research, and community service projects,” said the Rector after the Mou signing on Wednesday (12/12) at UGM Conference Room.
According to the Rector, the education and teaching at UGM could not entirely rely on government and community funds, but also need support from partners. “Obviously, education, research, and community service projects cannot be funded on our own, but we need support from our partners, one of those is BSM,” he said.
The Rector added the cooperation with the partners would help UGM considerably in order to educate future state leaders that have the commitment and make new breakthroughs for common welfare.
Achmad Syafii also appreciated UGM that had made BSM as its partners. “The cooperation that has lasted so far can boost the progress both for BSM and UGM,” he said.
