A team from UGM has assisted duck breeders in Adipuro district of Central Lampung.
Vice-Dean of Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Dr. Ir. Bambang Suwignyo, MP, IPM, ASEAN. Eng., and duck expert Dr. Ir. Heru Sasongku, M.P., as well as industry expert of Faculty of Engineering UGM, Dr. Ir. Fitri Trapsikawati, IPM, ASEAN. Eng. have visited the district recently.
“A plot of land measuring 5 hectare square has been projected to be a breeding centre for ducks. This is a form of commitment of the local government for advancing the community,” said Bambang Suwignyo on Wednesday (2/10).
Bambang said UGM would give a formulation of a business plan system for an integrated duck farming.
“The duck breeders can participate in a free course like we have done recently. Going forward, we will give free online lectures, too,” he explained.
The local government of Central Lampung hoped the programme would accelerate the economy of the local people through the duck business that is run directly by themselves.
“I hope the economy of the local people will grow higher,” said Regent Lukman Djojo Soemarto.
The visit made by UGM was a follow-up to the visit by the Regent to UGM in September. The regency focused the regional development on several sectors. Hence, UGM sent 14 experts to respond to that need.
