YouSure organisation collaborating with Student Research and Creative Corner (SRCC) of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM have once again conducted Sociopreneur Muda Indonesia (SOPREMA) competition in 2019. SOPREMA is a competition and incubation for socio-preneurs.
Assistant to Entrepreneurship and Youth Deputy Minister in the Youth and Sport Ministry, Drs. Imam Gunawan, MAP., appreciated the event, hoping that it would strengthen UGM identity.
“Nowadays, problems are getting more complex and interrelated. Now it’s not enough just to resolve these problems through entrepreneurial concept and added value. They now need to be combined with social value to generate entrepreneurship,” he said at the Faculty on Tuesday (12/11), opening the event.
Imam Gunawan further suggested the winners of the competition be brought to the Asia Pacific level, because their capacities will not only produce profit in business, but also profit that is empowering.
Vice-Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, said the main idea in the Faculty in recent times was to make the campus a place that allows creative ideas to arise from among the young generation. They believe there is a myriad of creative and innovative ideas to resolve social problems.
“The university has the role to facilitate the media for the birth of such creative and innovative ideas. Soprema is an initiative but it’s expected that events like this would arise not just at UGM but also across Indonesia,” he said.
Wawan added amidst economic uncertainties in the world, developing the potential of the youth and social groups is the best way. Therefore, startups rather than established companies will participate in SOPREMA 2019.
Event chairman, Dr. Hempri Suyatna, appreciated that SOPREMA still sustains in its fourth year which will run from 12-14 November 2019, started with an expo. As many as 60 finalists will take part in the category of kick off (0-1 years) or start up (1-3 years) companies.
“As many as 17 booths will stand in the expo. In addition, there will be business incubation and vlog competition involving high school students,” he concluded.
