The alumni community of UGM (KAGAMA) devoted their dedication to helping the government solving the outbreak of Coronavirus or COVID-19.

Ganjar Pranowo, as the chairman of KAGAMA conveyed during an audience with President Joko Widodo at the State Palace on Monday (2/3) that their commitment intended to form Virtual Crisis Center.

In the meeting, Ganjar also encouraged the provincial head (pengda) of KAGAMA from all over Indonesia to deliver public education programs to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

Regarding the public education program, Ganjar said the plan was in line with the direction of the WHO and the Indonesian Ministry of Health, such as hand washing, healthy living, sports, and so on. KAGAMA also invited all elements of the nation to unite, helping, and supporting each other in dealing with this kind of situation.

KAGAMA also appealed to the public to stay calm, do not panic, and ensure every information to avoid actions that will only harm the common interest.

“I’m sure the government is severe, they are ready and capable of tackling the Coronavirus outbreak with one condition, we must support the government," said Ganjar.

Ganjar mentioned that he had designed a medium-term program. KAGAMA will soon arrange a brief policy proposal in mitigating the economic impacts of the Corona outbreak. Not only in the field of health, but Ganjar will also encourage the whole elements of KAGAMA from provincial KAGAMA (pengda) to subsidiary KAGAMA (pengcab) to contribute and support government solving the impact of Coronavirus outbreak.

“Based on target, there will be a draft in this week for the policy brief. We will complete the rest in the form of FGD, which involves UGM or the bigger KAGAMA forum,” explained the Governor of Central Java.

Ganjar also appreciated the government for taking quick steps in evacuating Indonesian citizens abroad, such as in Wuhan, World Dream, and the recent case in Diamond Princess.

Corona's case has a significant influence on the sector of the economy. Regarding that issue, KAGAMA suggested that the government also needed to be focus to awaken the economy country. Spending and ensuring the effectiveness of APBN and APBD expenditure allocations are examples of ways to stimulate the economy sector. Another example is enriching cash-for-work programs to increase the purchasing power of the people and promote tourism and MICE visits in the country.
