As the number of cases increases, Covid-19 continues bringing out new clusters of transmission. Offices have become the new epicenter of the spread of the coronavirus in Indonesia because the transmission of Covid-19 in the work environment and offices has become more massive in various places since office activities reopened,
To anticipate the emergence of office clusters, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is conducting a mass Covid-19 rapid test activity attended by employees/officials in the UGM Environment from 31 August – 4 September 2020. This activity is a form of UGM concern for health and employee workplace safety.
“We conduct the rapid test on all employees who work in the UGM Central Building as an effort to break the chain of Covid-19 spread in the work environment,” said UGM Chancellor Secretary, Drs. Gugup Kismono, M.B.A., Ph.D., on Wednesday (26/8) at UGM.
The UGM Covid-19 Task Force is the party who will conduct the rapid test implementation in the 1st Floor Hall of the South Wing of the UGM Central Building. Around 500 employees and management will take part in the rapid mass test for five days, starting at 09.00 WIB.
“There will be health protocols implemented in the activity. The shift is divided into 2-3 shifts to avoid crowds,” Gugup explained.
UGM also took several anticipatory steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the campus environment. Some of them include measuring body temperature before entering the office, regulating the number of employees, implementing physical distance, providing hand-sanitizers in each room, providing sinks at some points, distributing PPE for employees, including masks and face shields, and regularly spraying disinfectants.
“Hopefully, all employees can mutually work to stop Covid-19 transmission by always maintaining health and discipline in implementing health protocols. Hence, it might aim to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the work environment,” he explained.
