Fakultas Hukum UGM Peringati Dies Natalis Ke-75

Faculty of Law UGM commemorated its 75th Anniversary, Wednesday (17/2). In the Open Senate Meeting held online and offline, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Sigit Riyanto, S.H., LL.M., delivered the annual report which summarized the Faculty’s achievements throughout 2020

“Hopefully, this Dean’s report can provide and present important and actual information about the Faculty’s development. We are currently undergoing the quality development and acceleration in terms of curriculum, research, infrastructure, student activities, and strategic cooperation with various parties amid the pandemic,” said the Dean.

Sigit explained the Faculty of Law’s achievements this year were in line with the improved UGM ranking from 320 to 254.

In the subject of law science, the Faculty also improved its ranking. In 2020, the Faculty of Law UGM was ranked 283, climbing up from its previous position of below 300.

“This (achievement) certainly came from the contribution of all Faculty’s elements to keep striving for academic, facility, and infrastructure improvement,” he said.

The Bachelor of Laws Study Program, Master of Business and State Law, Master of Notary, Master of Litigation, Master of Laws, Master of Laws of Jakarta Campus, and Doctor of Laws received an A, while Master of Health Law received a B.

He further explained that the Faculty carried out several academic innovations during the pandemic, especially in the online learning process. To support the implementation, the Quality Assurance and Curriculum Unit facilitated the recording of course material displayed on the Faculty’s YouTube channel called Kanal Pengetahuan FH UGM.

Throughout 2020, the Faculty also held 57 online discussions with themes ranging from health, civil code, employment to a wide range of national policies related to Indonesia’s current phenomena and situations.

Students have also succeeded in participating in scientific competitions and forums, both at the national and international levels.

A number of achievements include 1st place at the Indonesian Round of the International Humanitarian Moot Court Competition 2020 organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), 1st place at the Indonesian National Round of International Negotiation Competition, and best position paper at the Munbank Model United Nation held in Singapore.

According to the record, Faculty of Law UGM lecturers have also succeeded in producing 55 scientific works and 65 community service activities,” said the Dean.
