UGM Research and History Week Expo Attracted 12 thousands Visitors

UGM Research and History Week Expo which was held from 22- 26 July at Grha Sabha Pramana was visited by at least 12 thousands people. The number of visitors increased by 2,000 than last year’s. This information was stated by the Vice Chief Committee of UGM Research and History Week 2009, Prof. Dr. Harno Dwi Pranowo, M.Si., in the closing ceremony of Research and History Week. The official closing ceremony was conducted by the Chairman of UGM Academic Senate, Prof. Dr. Sutaryo, Sp.A(K), on Sunday (26/7), at Grha Sabha Pramana.


Prof Harno said that 18 faculties, 19 centers of study, and 20 Student Centers and Organizations (UMKM) developed by UGM Institute or Research and Community Service (LPPM) participated in this expo. He also said “The best participants from faculties, centers of study, and student centers will be recruited in national expo held by the National Education Ministry (Depdiknas),” Further, he explained that this annual expo can create a good communication between UGM and the society.


Meanwhile, Prof. Sutaryo in his speech warmly welcomed the UGM Research and History Week Expo. In the future, he hoped that this event can be held more gloriously as well as Sekaten. He uttered, “In other occasion, an UGM research expo will be made as glorious as Sekaten and named the Gadjah Mada Sekaten of Science.


The UGM Senior Vice Rector for Academic, Research, and Community Service (WRS P3M), Prof. Dr. Retno S. Sudibyo, M.Sc., Apt., also appreciated the increasing number of visitors in the expo. She conveyed that the research expo was the result of research cooperation with industry, government, and society. “The research result cooperates with region and industry through synergy paradigm among university, industry and society”, she said.


The Head of BNI Bank for UGM Branch, Muhammad Ridwan, said that his side supports the activity of Student Center controlled by LPPM and BNI. “They are given opportunity to participate in the expo. It is important to note that not even one of these UMKMs has bad debts,” he said proudly.
