Two UGM students, Prihadi Yogaswara (Electrical Engineering) and Irma
Susanti (Civil Engineering), successfully became the winners of the
roadmap "Use of Information and Communication Technology for Small and
Medium Scale Business Enterprises/UKM" competition. They accomplished
this after participating in the Industry Attachment Program for six
months. This innovative apprentice program, which was held in
cooperation with SENADA/USAID and CISCO, was joined by at least 100
students from several notable universities. They became apprentices in
85 UKMs which are located in Java and Bali. The universities that
participated in this program are UGM, UI, Binus, ITS, Ciputra
University, and Petra University. Other than Prihadi and Irma, another
winner is Maria Tjahjadi from Ciputra University.
In her presentation, Prihadi,
who was born March 28th 1983 in Yogyakarta, succeeded to develop a
Linux Information and Communication Technology and open source program
to transfer data through telephone cable network in Batik Semar
Company, Solo. "It further connects the communication and information
network between the branch office and the central office. I have also
developed a software for security," said the student of 2001 after
receiving his award at the Sheraton Hotel, Yogyakarta, Monday (27/7).
Other than that, Prihadi also made an application which can be used as
an IT camera to monitor the working process and for surveillance.
Meanwhile, Irma made a
"development of financial information application system" design
related to the use of used wood which is normally used as furniture
material by CV Kayu Manis company in Jalan Imogiri, Yogyakarta. Irma
explains that she has designed a production, planning and inventory
control (PPIC), and marketing information application system. "It is a
use of web as an online and offline promotion media," she added.
Besides, Irma said that the
roadmap application that she made can also be used to know the usage of
wood by the order. "This information is quite efficient in the
furniture business," said this girl born in Malang, March 6th, 1982.
Another winner, Maria Tjahjadi
from Ciputra University had an idea about developing the online
accounting system in the Surfer Girl Bali company. She made RIFD member
ID cards which can detect costumers who visit that store.
As Farid Maruf, the Senior
Advisor of ICT SENADA informed, the three winners will be given a
prize, which is the chance to go to San Jose, San Francisco,
California, USA. This is where the central Cisco office and other IT
companies such as Yahoo! and Google are located. Beforehand, Farid had
explained to the reporters in Sheraton Hotel, Yogyakarta, that this
Roadmap competition was held to test the capability of the students in
understanding the company’s aspirations and spare their ideas in
Information and Communication Technology development.
" From this competition, we
will know how students assess the essence from business planning,
understanding problems, and giving solutions by applying the perfect
system," he said.
