Only recently, the Geodesy Engineering Department of UGM’s Engineering Faculty cooperates with the Local Government of Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) County, South Sumatera Province, in running a capacity building program for the recruited team of village border enactment and affirmation. The collaboration is realized within a training called The Training of Village Border Enactment and Affirmation that refers to the state law no. 27 year 2006 about Village Border Enactment and Affirmation.
The training starts on 28–30 July 2009 at the Hotel Dinesti, Kayuagung, Lampung. Ir. Sumaryo, M.Si, a Geodesy Engineering teacher who also acts as the resource person of the training claims that the purpose of the program is to give law assurance for local area management that is political-administrative in nature.
In relation to this, there are two stages of basic activities that should be done by the county, which are setting the borders of areas and ascertaining them.
Further, Sumaryo hopes that this training can minimize the potential conflict caused by the uncertain borders of the areas in the county.
