Engineering Career Center (ECC) at UGM’s Engineering Faculty is arranging an event called UGM Career Days on 14-16 August 2009 at Grha Sabha Pramana, UGM. It’s the fifth time and this time it will involve 25 companies, national and international.
The Head of the committee, Nurhadi, S.T. stated that Career Days now has more than 8000 members, 60% of them are UGM alumni and the rest are from outside UGM. “We estimate that more than 6000 members will participate in the event,†said Nurhadi at the UC Resto, Thursday (6/8).
The event is special for the members and will not charge. Other than the full membership with 6 month duration, other job seekers can register for a 3 months membership at the registration stand. “ECC does not limit the member only from UGM, and the member can be of any discipline,†he said.
Rights now, as Nurhadi stated, ECC is planning a lifetime membership system to make it easier for the members and the companies. “So ECC is merely a facilitator for the companies to meet directly with their candidate employees,†he explained.
The facilities available are applying for a job, career consultation, and psychology consultation, all online at ECC’s website, plus information on job vacancy via text message and e-mail for certain vacancies, career seminar that brings practitioners every Friday on college active years, and special facilities on offline events like Career Workshop.
Among the 25 companies are Bank BRI, Buma, PLN, Telkomsel, Toshiba, PT H.M. Sampoerna Tbk., Kaltim Methanol Indonesia, Bank Mandiri, PT Indonesia Epson Industry, PT Wijaya Karya, Blue Bird, Femina Group, Sinarmas Pulp & Paper, PT Astra Agro Lestari, PT Nindya Karya, PT Adimix Precast Indonesia, Nusantara Sakti Group, Tudung Group, Pura Barutama Group, Soho Group, Andi Publisher, PT Solo Murni (the producer of Kiky notebooks), and Kalbe Nutritional.
These companies will run presentation, written test, and interviews at the job fair. With the presentation, these companies can educate the jobseekers about their companies.
