Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., inaugurated five new officials at UGM. They are Prof. Dr. Ir. Zuprizal, D.E.A. as Senior Assistant Rector for Academic Affairs, drg. Ika Dewi Ana, M.Kes., Ph.D. as Senior Assistant Rector for Research and Community Service, Prof. Dr. drh. Siti Isrina Oktavia Salasia as Head of Education Management Quality Improvement at the Education Development Centre, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Fatchan Nurrochmad, M.Agr. and Dr. Agr. Ir. Sri Peni Wastutiningsih as Caretakers of Vocational Schools.
In his speech the Rector extended his gratitude that the new officials are ready to accept the duty as assigned by UGM. In order to implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education motto, UGM does need the service of the new officials. “I hope you will all be granted with health, because good achievements can be made by those who are healthy physically and mentally. During this fasting period, we need to remind each other about our health.â€
The Rector believes that the newly inaugurated officials have high level of education that will help them adjust themselves to the existing programmes. The main guidance is the UGM Strategic Plans, said the Rector. “In addition, we need to accept input and maintain communication with UGM staff whether academic or non-academic, by giving attention to each other to reach maximum results,†he added.
There are many things at UGM to be thankful for. UGM is very quick in its developments. UGM, however, has weaknesses, too. “Up to now, I have a list of 40 issues related to UGM in terms of organisation, culture and leadership. But I would not go into details here. We are expected not to panic in dealing with all of those things. We will resolve them one by one and may God give guidance in order that we can achieve UGM aspirations together between the leadership and all members of the academic community,†the Rector said.Â
