At least 75 participants from Small and Middle Scale Enterprises (UKM) from Sleman, Kulon Progo, Gunungkidul, Bantul and Yogyakarta Regencies and BMT management staffs in DIY followed the UMKM Workshop entitled “The role of University that Synergize with Bank and Government to Establish a Success and Independent UMKM†that was facilitated by LPPM UGM on Wednesday (26/11) at the 1st Meeting Room of UGM, Balairung UGM.
The coordinator of UMKM Development of LPPM UGM Rahmawan Budiarto explained that the workshop aimed to synergize, evaluate and plan the institutional role of university to take part in UMKM development in Yogyakarta.
“The workshop is a part of UMKM assistance events through financial grants as much as 2.75 billion given by UGM through LPPM in order to develop UKM in Yogyakarta,†said Rahmawan Budiarto on Thursday (27/11) in Balairung UGM.
The workshop presented Rachmawan Budiarto, BPD Sharia Bank of Yogyakarta’s representative Munif Ridwan, former head of DESPERINDAGKOP of Yogyakarta Syahbenol Hasibuan and BNI Sharia Banl Bulaksumur Branch representative Bambang Isdiarto and UKM agent BNI-LPPM UGM assisted Andang Kirana as the speakers.
Budiarto explained that from the workshop it was found out that the role of LPPM UGM with its One Stop Service concept is very important for UMKM and its partner LPPM UGM as the source of technology, knowledge and management. Bank has an important role as the fund supporter and financial application, and the government (through Desperindagkop) with its supportive policies and laws can improve the development of UMKM.
“If there are more people care about UKM, there will be more new job available and it will cut the number of unemployment and eventually reduce the poverty,†he said.
