Gadjah Mada University and the Indonesian Ministry of Research and Technology (RISTEK) have agreed to form cooperation on the implementation of Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi (The University’s three main purposes) in the educational, research and society services field. The letter of agreement was signed by UGM’s Rector Prof Sudjarwadi and the Minister Deputy for Dynamics Society of RISTEK Ministry Prof Carunia M Firdaus on Wednesday (19/11) at the multi media room of Balairung of UGM.
Sudjarwadi welcomed the initiation of cooperation with RISTEK, and said that soon there will be a small team that will map the cooperation opportunities of UGM and RISTEK. Meanwhile Carunia revealed that with the cooperation RISTEK wants to improve the quality of human resources in RISTEK ministry, which is lacking in magisterial or doctoral degree educational staff.
Carunia also added that the cooperation will allow collaboration between UGM’s researchers and RISTEK in a joint research. He said that even though the government has admitted that there will be a larger research funds in 2009, universities lecturers have to collaborate with formal researchers in order to get the funds.
Moreover, he also encouraged universities lecturers to utilize facilities in RISTEK to support their researches.
