Astra Honda Motor (AHM) Foundation gave scholarships to 25 students of UGM. The scholarships were symbolically given by the head of AHM Foundation Siswanto Prawiroatmodjo to 25 students and watched by the Director of Students Affair of UGM, Haryanto Msi on Thursday (6/11) at the meeting room I of UGM.
Each student received free SPP and BOP for one year. Even so, Siswanto said that the scholarship can be extended until the student is graduated as long as he/she has good academic achievement.
In 2008 AHM Foundation have given scholarships to 75 smart students from financially lacks families. They also gave the scholarships to 10th November Technology Institute of Surabaya and Pajajaran University of Bandung.
Even though the number of scholarships is limited, Siswanto said that the foundation will try to add more scholarship in the future. He also hoped that this scholarship can help the students to finish their study and eventually can be useful for their nation.
Hariyanto said that this scholarship will surely add more options for less fortunate students. Hariyanto explained that UGM manage at least 15 to 17 billion Rupiah of scholarship fund each year from 60 sources.
Hariyanto added that academic achievement only is not enough. Students must have additional skill in communication, teamwork and leadership.
