UGM has earned third place at the National Students Show in Technology, Information and Communication 2008 held by the Dirjen Dikti Depdiknas (General Directorate of Higher Education of National Education Department) at the IT Telkom of Bandung. There were seven contests category, which are the Smartware Contest (Acoustic & Signal Processing, Automation, Antenna), Data Mining Contest, Application Contest (Decision Support System, E-Learning, Geographic Information System, Management Information System, Mobile Application), Network Security Contest, Algorithm Contest, ICT Paper Contest and Business Game Contest.
UGM have achieved one gold from Teknik Industri Team in Business Game contest category and 1 silver from Teknik Elektro Team in Application Contest category
There are 2090 registered contestants from various universities in Indonesia. After a selection, came in 317 contestants from 111 teams from 28 universities. At the final, UGM was represented by 4 teams that competed in 2 categories and won two medals.
