Young researchers from Airlangga University, Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) were declared the winners of The Henk Timmerman Award 2009. They are Marcellino Rudyanto (Airlangga University), R. Triana Dewi, Ahmad Darmawan, Puspa Dewi NL, and Hani Mulyani (LIPI), and Ritmaleni, Ari Simbara, Eti N. Sholikah, and Sardjiman (UGM).
Prof. Jumina explained that other steps which can be taken is the realignment of energy management, especially exploration involving foreign companies. So far, the distribution of petroleum exploration is more profitable for foreign companies. "The issue of energy management in oil exploration should also be re-managed. Let us prevent losses in the end," the Professor of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UGM said.
If the management of this energy exploration could be done better, Indonesia can save much energy and there is no need for imports. Therefore, energy production is increasing and will not burden the government anymore.
Unfortunately, the program in this field had stopped following the government’s decision to stop the cooperation with IGGI. Another financial source, however, is available for the program to continue. In fact, the main interest in the study of turmeric as a medicine, in cooperation with PT Kalbe Farma and PT Indofarma, could produce Molnas (National molecule). Molnas is 10 molecules which are the derivative of turmeric. "In development, the compound of turmeric can be used for anti-cancer drugs and fertility drugs for women," he said
