The Assessment Team of ASEAN University Network-Actual Quality Assessment (AUN-AQA) made an assessment of 3 study programs of UGM (Pharmaceutical Science, Medical Education, and Chemistry) for accreditation of the development of quality assurance system in ASEAN universities.
"I hope the hard work done by the three programs of study can obtain good results from the AUN assessment team," said Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M. Eng., Ph.D., in a meeting with members of the delegation in the Senate Hall, Wednesday (14/10).
The Rector said that departments wanted to expand the scope of assessment in order to accelerate the fulfillment of the international standard requirements. This is in line with the next AUN plan to cooperate with the Consortium of European universities. The Rector hoped that AUN assessment can also be made of other UGM study programs.
The Rector added that UGM is now developing itself into a world-class research university of excellence, independence, dignity, which is based on Pancasila to serve the interests and prosperity of the nation. UGM has been preparing the infrastructure, facilities and human resources for this.
For AUN-AQA 2010, the Rector asked that departments that will be assessed need to meet the standards required by the AUN. Before AUN Quality Assurance Internal Quality Label in 2011, UGM will prepare itself by conducting an internal quality assurance in advance.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Nantana Gajaseni, AUN Executive Director, said that during this 2-day assessment, the Chief Quality Officers (CQOs) team will obtain substantial results of the assessment. "I hope that we can socialize the development of quality assurance systems in ASEAN," he said.
After UGM, the next assessment will be held at Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in December 2009. Three members of the AUN, the Universiti Brunei Darussalam, University of Indonesia, and De La Salle University, have submitted a request for AUN assessment to be done in 2010.
