A concert of "World Peace Orchestra" (WPO) was just held at UGM to commemorate UGM’s 60th Anniversary. Successful as in the previous year, the concert was specifically aimed to raise funds for earthquake survivors in West Sumatra. Besides, WPO performance was also intended to support Komodo, the native animal of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), to become one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
The event led by Dwiki Dharmawan was joined by a number of artists, including Cadrarini Peni, Rafly, Dewa Budjana, Kiyani, I Nyoman Windha, and Anggito Abimanyu. In addition, "The King of Monologue" Butet Kertaradjasa, Dira J. Sugandhi, Ivan Nestorman, Steve Thornton, and Joe Rosenberg also performed in this show.
The three hours’ concert in Grha Sabha Pramana amazed the audience, especially when Rafly sang the song "Ya Rabbana" after solo singers Candrarini Peni and Krisdayanti. A moment later, Dewa Budjana played guitar in "On the Way Home". Next, Peni Candrarini sang "Ilir-Ilir" accompanied by Joe Rosenberg, who played tenor saxophone. This was followed by Anggito playing flute and percussionist Steve Thornton in action.
At the end of the event, organizers managed to raise funds of 100 million rupiah. The donation was later submitted by the committee to the Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., to be distributed to UGM students from Padang who are affected by the earthquake.
