UGM and Lorena Group will cooperatively design the development concept of internal UGM feeder bus and its integration with Lorena Group bus link. This will be created in the next 1-3 years.

That was the substance of a Memorandum of Understanding between UGM and PT Eka Sari Lorena Group in education, research and business. The MoU was signed by the Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., and the CEO of Lorena Group, G.T. Soerbakti, at the Leadership Meeting Room, Central Office, UGM, Friday (16/10).

In his opening speech, Soerbakti said that Lorena has much experience in transportation. Lorena has been operating for 40 years in the provision of inter-city and inter-province buses, especially in Java, Bali and Sumatera. It also supports the operation of Trans-Jakarta in the Indonesian capital.

Further, he said that out of this cooperation will emerge entrepreneurship of UGM alumni. In his opinion, education in university tends to direct its alumni to be employees rather than  employers or entrepreneurs who will also contribute in recruiting employees and reducing unemployment rate.

Meanwhile, Rector Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., welcomed this cooperation. He said that through this cooperation of education, research and business, new opportunities are open wide for the two institutions to give advantages to the society. The Rector also suggested that Indonesian Archipelago with its abundant resources can be developed efficiently.
