The man born in Bojonegoro on 31 January 1942 was laid to rest on Saturday (7/11) at 14.00 hours at Sawitsari UGM cemetery compound after a ceremony in his residence at Pohruboh RT 01/RW 52 No. 321 Condongcatur, Depok, Sleman. The body was laid for some time at UGM Hall to be paid last respect by those who knew him.
When giving a speech at the funeral, Chair of the Council of Professors, Prof. Drs. Suryo Guritno, M.Stat., Ph.D., extended his condolences over the passing away of the intellectual figure who had made great contributions, not only to UGM, but also Indonesia. The Indonesian Pharmaceutical Scholars Association, the Biochemical and Molecular Biology Association and the Researchers of Natural Essence Association are a few of organisations that have enjoyed his work.
“Prof. Sasmito’s commitment and dedication have indeed brought pride to his wife and children,†said Suryo Guritno. During his life, added Suryo, Prof. Sasmito was known as a simple yet cheerful and friendly man.
