At least 33 students of Universitas Gadjah Mada gave a speech delivered in 33 local languages, representing 33 Indonesian provinces. The event took place in the Auditorium of Faculty of Engineering, Saturday (21/11). They delivered their concerns over the condition of the nation in their own local languages. This received attention and appreciation from the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI).
Wearing their university jackets, one by one the students took turns in delivering the same speech in their respective local languages, such as Aceh, Lampung, Bengkulu, Sunda, Madura, Bali, Ambon, Bugis and Papua languages.
The text of the speech is as follows: "The nation is moaning, groaning with pain of being shackled all over. It is time for us to gradually calm Mother Earth by doing our best for the nation. Let’s care about the people who have a disease, learn and improve the order around us". In another part, "The History of Indonesia is the history of the young people. If Arief Rahman Hakiem had sacrificed himself, what would you sacrifice for your nation?â€
To reporters, a member of the executive committee, Agusman, said that this event was the peak of the ‘Techno Vaganza’ event held by Faculty of Engineering’s Student Executive Body, UGM. “The committee deliberately invited students from various regions in 18 faculties at UGM to join this event," he said.
