One of Indonesia’s best sons carved yet another victory in the international community. The news came from the Japan Society of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics (JSAEM) which annually provides a series of outstanding awards for talented scientists, the best scientific work, and applied industrial collaborated research. This year, the award was presented on November 19th 2009, in conjunction with the highlight of the 18th Magnetodynamics Conference held at the Tokyo City University, Tokyo, Japan .
Between the rows of Japanese people who won the award, there was an Indonesian young man. He is Muhammad Agung Bramantya, usually called Mas Bram. Mas Bram, who is a lecturer at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is currently taking an S3 education at Keio University. He was one of the recipients of the "Young Engineer Award".
The award was given to Mas Bram for one of his scientific work entitled ‘Ultrasonic Study on the Clustering Structures of Magnetorheological Fluids under a Uniform Magnetic Field "successfully published in a scientific journal published by JSAEM. The article is considered as a work an outstanding academic paper by the jury.
"Actually, I didn’t receive this award just because of one paper, but also from other academic aspects. In assessment terms, I was asked to make a list of academic activities and output of my research. I’ve included 4 journal papers, 5 international seminar papers, 6 national (Japan) seminar papers, and various other awards, "said Mas Bram briefly after receiving the awards.
"This scientific paper describes my research on the basic phenomenon of particle clustering in smart fluids called magneto-rheological fluid with ultrasonic methods," said Mas Bram commenting on details of his research articles.
Mas Bram hopes that the number of academic colleagues from Indonesia who wants to pursue the field of magnetohydrodynamics grows. Furthermore, they are expected to work together so that each can provide synergy benefits to Indonesia.
That is one more son of the nation who has lifted Indonesia’s name in the international world. Hopefully this will give inspiration for the children of this nation to work better.
