Modern analytical chemical instrumentation can give qualitative and quantitative information with high precision and accurateness on very low rate. However, that information does not suddenly explain about what happens in biological system and significant change that will happen. Therefore, other sciences such as molecular biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics are needed to know with certainty about action mechanism of that compound and various possibilities which trigger risk realization.

That was delivered by Prof. dr. Sri Noegrohati, Apt., when inaugurated as the professor of Faculty of Pharmacy, UGM. In her speech entitled "Implementation of Risk Analytical Concept of Toxic Chemicals in Health Safety Assuranceâ€, Noegrohati explained that to elaborate problems in health safety assurance not only needs sophisticated physic-chemical analysis but also toxicological analysis from molecular and cellular levels up to population. “By integrating this information and with the help of computing analysis, the risk realization probability can be predicted so that prevention can be done optimally,†she said at Senate Hall, UGM.

With the increase of policy makers’s awareness on value and relevance of health risk study, the duty of lecturers is to prepare their students to be able to arrange necessary and reliable recommendation. Added by the lady born in Semarang on 2 October 1945, science can explain why facts happen based on information that is obtained from well-designed research. To get the right and reliable information, the students need to realize the importance of problem analytical skill to break down big problems into parts that can be handled by researchers who have expertise. “That can be done only with continual, integrated and thorough research which can give information with a low uncertainty factor,†said Noegrohati.
