Ten of UGM students received Sun Bright scholarship from PT Sun Life Financial Indonesia. The event was marked with scholarship certificate handover to the students by Head of Marketing and Cooperation of PT. Sun Life Financial Indonesia, Nadya Siregar  and witnessed by Director of Student Affairs, UGM, Drs. Hariyanto, M.Si., Wednesday (9/12) at Multimedia Room, UGM Central Office.
Â
The ten students are from Faculty of Political and Social Sciences (5 students), Faculty of Cultural Sciences (2 students), Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (2 students) and Faculty of Medicine (1 student). Each of them will receive scholarship funds worth 250,000 rupiahs/month for a year.
Â
Drs. Hariyanto, M.Si., welcomed the program. According to him, that scholarship can improve student’s achievement. Sentot (Hariyanto’s nickname) hoped that in the future there will be more students receiving the scholarship. “The number of scholarship recipients is still small. This is because our campus has 35 thousand students plus 50 thousand Master’s students. I am sure that, those who are grateful, will be blessed. If now there are only 10 students, it means next year there will be an increase to 100 students. If not, either we are not grateful or PT Sun Life Financial Indonesia has not developed,†Sentot joked. Sentot suggested the students to spend their scholarship funds optimally so that they can have higher achievements.
Â
Nadya Siregar said that the Sun Bright Program is the company’s form of attention in education. This program has run since 2006 in several universities in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Bali, Medan and Yogyakarta.†This scholarship is a form of our contribution to education. We will always monitor and give more opportunities,†she ended.
