PT Indocement Tunggal Perkasa has once again provided scholarships for Universitas Gadjah Mada students. The scholarships amounting to Rp 37,440,000 were handed over by the leader of PT Indocement Tunggal Perkasa, Alexander Frans, S.H., to UGM Director of Student Affairs, Drs. Haryanto, M.Si. The handover was conducted at the Multimedia Room, UGM Main Office, Thursday (10/12) and was witnessed by UGM Rector Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., and Indocement’s Corporate Human Resources Development, Bambang Sindukusumo.
In front of 26 scholarship recipients, Alexander Frans said that the programme beginning in 1991 continued to increase from year to year. The number of recipients, however, is still considered far from the demand. “With the scholarships, I hope that students can quickly finish their study. I believe that those students have skills more than others,†said Frans.
In addition, according to Frans, recipients have the character as future leaders. Therefore, although it is not binding, Alexander expects that they would want to join PT Indocement after graduation. Alexander said that PT Indocement plans to have a cooperation with UGM and UNDIP for the Environmental Impact Analysis in Central Java. “We need information from universities that can be utilised by the industry sector,â€Â he said.
In that event, the Rector extended his gratitude to PT Indocement for their care. He hoped that the scholarships can support the students in their study. “In this way students can graduate quickly and later become company leaders or any other leaders anywhere,†he added.
In that occasion, PT Indocement’s uniform was symbolically handed over to two UGM students, Cecep Saefudin and Ajeng Nurmalitasari, as a token of close relationship between the company and the students.
