Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran of East Java have agreed to implement cooperation in education, especially in sending and training of lecturers and laboratory staff, also in implementing KKN PPM jointly.
This was expressed in an agreement between UGM and UPN Veteran of East Java, Wednesday (23/12) that was signed at the Leadership’s Room, UGM Main Office. UGM Rector Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., welcomed the cooperation. He said that the cooperation would help enhance the role of both universities. “It is expected that this will strengthen the relationship between UGM and UPN Veteran. UGM had been established before other universities in order to apply knowledge for civilisation, benefit and happiness,†Sudjarwadi said.
In that occassion Sudjarwadi promoted the World Conference Local Wisdom in October 2010 at UGM and asked UPN Veteran to join the event.
Rector of UPN Veteran, Prof. Dr. Ir. Teguh Soedarto, M.P., replied that he would follow this up and he would soon send teaching staff and laboratory staff to increase their profesionalism. “We send our laboratory staff for apprenticeship to increase professionalism. On a regular basis, we will send our teaching staff here,†he added.
Teguh Soedarto acknowledged that UPN Veteran had forged a cooperation with UGM in the form of joint implementation of KKN PPM for four periods. One of those was the utilisation of efficient technology and village building in Madura following the establishment of the Suramadu bridge.
