Ambassador of Hungary to Indonesia, Szilveszter Bus, called on Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., at UGM Central Office, Tuesday (26/1). The Hungarian guest wished to see opportunities for exchange of students and lecturers between the two countries, particularly at Universitas Gadjah Mada. This was his first visit to UGM after being appointed as ambassador in September last year.
“He wants to improve professor’s exchange between the two countries. He provides fund and invites students and lecturers from Hungary,†said Head of Office for International Affairs of UGM, Dr. Rachmat A. Sriwijaya, to the press after attending the meeting between Ambassador Bus and the Rector.
In the discussion, the Ambassador emphasized the need to make tighter cooperation between Hungary and Indonesia through education. In his opinion, education is one important pillar for national development. In Indonesia, he saw that there are many things to be improved by the young generation, particularly social welfare, skills, and leadership.
“The young generation should think big, learn to be responsible for themselves, their family, the nation and state. Although Indonesia is currently experiencing democratic transition, I am sure that all can go well. It’s like teaching kids how to swim, all of these can be done,â€Â he said.
In that meeting Ambassador Bus accepted the Rector’s offer to give general lecture for students of International Relations Department. He even promised to give two lectures in one semester.
