Mubyarto Institute assessed that SBY-Boediono Government did not show new direction and strategy to run economic agendas based on constitutional mandate. Instead, SBY-Boediono Government is seen as strenghtening the existing neo-liberal economy.

That was delivered by Executive Director of Mubyarto Institute, Dr. Fahmi Radhi, M.B.A., in a talkshow entitled “Mubyarto Institute's Evaluation of 100 Days Program of United Indonesia Cabinet II”, Saturday (30/1), at Center for Democratic Economy Studies, UGM, Bulaksumur. Fahmi said that in those 100 days, there has been no real breakthrough and new program that can be made the foundation for social welfare improvement for the next five years. “There is no sign that SBY-Boediono Government will change their direction of orientation and strategy that take side with society,” Fahmi said.

Instead of showing signs of improving people's welfare, the current Government has been insensitive to the conditions of the people. "Insensitivity is shown by the government's plan to raise salaries and purchase of cars for state officials costing 1.3 billion, as well as presidential aircraft purchase plan," he said.

Observing this condition, Fahmi said that Mubyarto Institute urged the Government to do several things. First, the Government should return to constitutional economy immediately by running democratic economy empowering program to increase social welfare, thereby returning national economic sovereignty.

Second are to review and correct national economic law, educational and economic learning systems in secondary schools and Higher Education. Third are to stop foreign debts, State Owned Enterprises privatisation, and economic liberalism. Fourth are to re-negotiate debt payment and old contracts which are not in accordance with the constitution. Fifth are to return to policy on control of national strategic assets, revitalization of cooperatives and agricultural revitalization towards the welfare of farmers and economic sovereignty.
