Shizuoka University opened an office in Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). The opening was marked with ribbon-cutting by UGM Rector, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., and uncovering of name plate by Prof. Shinji Tsuyumo, Vice- Rector for International Affairs of Shizuoka University, Tuesday (9/2)
According to the Rector, the opening of Shizuoka University Indonesia Office was a sign of the tighter cooperation between UGM and Shizuoka University. It is hoped that more Japanese students will study in Indonesia and vice versa. “We invite Japanese students to come to Indonesia, because UGM is a source of happiness. Working hard together can influence our quality,†Rector said.
He said that Japanese people are accustomed to managing resources for benefits. UGM also wants to learn this to avoid wasted energy. “The Shizuoka office in Indonesia is expected to give benefits to that end,†he added.
Meanwhile, Head of UGM’s Office of International Affairs, Dr. Rachmat Sriwijaya, explained that the Shizuoka office in UGM is hoped to increase student exchange. Shizuoka University will be able to promote their programs. “Why here? Because the cooperation has last a long time and there is already a close relationship between them,†he explained.
Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Ir. Triwibowo Yuwono, Ph.D., added that nine of his teaching staff are currently studying in Japan. Previously, four other teaching staff have studied in other Japanese universities, such as Yamaguchi and Ibarakhi Universities. “Today, two of our lecturers are guest lecturers in Japan, teaching the hot topic of Bio-ethanol,†the Dean explained.
