Universitas Gadjah Mada inaugurated 1,226 graduates, Thursday (18/2). In total, UGM has produced 207,812 graduates consisting of 29,022 diploma graduates, 123,894 graduates, 43,401 masters, 1,323 specialists and 1,172 doctors.
For the second period of graduation in academic year 2009/2010, the average study period is 4 years and 10 months. The shortest study period has been completed by Fariz Ghadati from Faculty of Social and Political Sciences who finished his study in 3 years 1 month. Meanwhile, noted as the youngest graduate (20 years old) was Arie Yohanes Dezvyanto from Faculty of Engineering.
This time as many as 137 graduates (14.53%) were cumlaudes. The highest GPA, 3.98, was gained by Awistaros Angger Sakti from Faculty of Animal Sciences.
UGM Rector, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., in his opening speech reminded all graduates to continue their dedication to society in their career. In creating UGM vision to be a World Class Research University that is excellent, independent, dignified and based on Pancasila and dedicated to the nation and prosperity, UGM has made many innovations in programs and activities. “The focus of those activities is acceleration of utilization of research results for social welfare,†he said.
The Rector also expected the graduates to be able to utilize UGM position in international relations to establish partnership and increase the benefit of wide networking both nationally and internationally.
