French Agriculture Research Institute (CIRAD) teamed up with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in a research cooperation on tropical agriculture. CIRAD considered UGM one of those that has excellence on tropical agriculture science researches.
“This institute is investigating agriculture in tropical and sub-tropical countries. Indonesia is the most suitable country for tropical agriculture and UGM is seen as the excellent one,†said Dr. Rahmat Sriwijaya, Head of the International Affairs Office, UGM, after the signing of an MoU between Director of CIRAD, Dr. Gerard Matheron, and Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., at UGM Main Office on Thursday (25/2).
Rahmat conveyed that both agreed on student exchange of S-2 and S-3 students, professor exchange, and possibility for double degree programs. The Rector welcomed the cooperation with CIRAD to enhance the position of UGM as a world class research university. “The Rector considered that this cooperation would open way for UGM to become a WCRU with the hope that our research products are of international standard,†said Rahmat.
