Universitas Gadjah Mada sent 121 students for KKN-PPM program (UGM’s Community Empowerment Program Field Practice) to the villages of Gombang (Ponjong sub-district), Pucang Anom (Rongkop) and Dadap Ayu (Semanu) in Gunung Kidul regency.
Ahead of the program, a ceremony was held and led by Dr. R. Wisnu Nurcahyo, Secretary of the Research and Community Service Institute, Dr. drh. Joko Prastowo, M.Si, Head of KKN-PPM Management, Dr. Irkham Widiyono, Student Community Service Manager, and Slamet Widiyanto, M.Sc, from the Disaster Early Response Unit (DERU) of UGM. To journalists on Wednesday (3/3) Joko Prastowo said that the program has the theme of “Sanitation and Conservation of Integrated Water Resource based on Learning and People Empowerment toward Sustainable Development.â€
Field operation will last two months beginning 1 March to 30 April 2010. “On the site students are guided by four field lecturers,†Joko said.
