Agricultural Training, Research and Development Station of Universitas Gadjah Mada (KP4 UGM) continues to make innovations in technology. One of those is the technology to compress biogas into a tube. Head of the KP4 UGM, Dr. Ir. Cahyono Agus D.K., M.Sc., said that this is part of a research of Gama Biogas.
Biogas content consists of various gases, those that are combustible and those that are not. A filtering method is required to resolve this problem. After filtering, the gases are expected to be able to produce combustible gas concentrate. “The method is through biogas purification to get high concentrate level of methane,†he said at the KP4 office in Kalasan area on Friday (5/3).
Methane gas can be used as alternative fuel. “One of the results of our research was methane that can be used as fuel to operate electricity generators,†added Ambar Pertiwiningrum, a member of the team.
There is a block in the distribution of organic waste processing into biogas. A certain packaging is required for easy distribution. One alternative is tube packaging. The technology undergoes several processes from purification, high pressure compression and packing into tubes, “The price for biogas compressing is cheap,†Ambar said.
