As many as 40 staff from regional working units in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan, graduated from in-house Training of Regional Accounting Program. The handover of diploma certificates for 40 graduates was conducted by Coordinator of Diploma Program of Faculty of Economics and Business, Dr. Fahmy Radhi, MBA, Thursday (18/3). It was rather different because usually the training program is held in regencies instead of students coming to UGM.
“All participants have graduated. They had left their work for the past three months, but certainly many benefits were obtained during that period. By studying here, the students can learn intensively,†said the Coordinator in his opening speech at Auditorium of Diploma Program in the Faculty. He added that studying at UGM would create good relationship between participants and other students of the Diploma Program. “All participants have equal rights to use facilities such as library, laboratory or other facilities,†he explained.
The Coordinator explained that the Regional Accounting Program is equal with Diploma One Program. This training program last three months and worth 50 credits. From the forty graduates, the highest GPA, 3.62, was gained by Iswanto. “There are students who have GPA under 3.00, but most are over 3.00,†he added.
The training gives additional value, which is very needed by regional working units. That is in line with the policy of Minister of Domestic Affairs, instructing units be able to make financial reports every three semesters and by the end of the year.
“We expect these graduates to be professional in managing finance in their regions. Certainly, they will make change in their work later on, so future assessments of their financial report should be ‘normal without exception’,†said the Coordinator.
The Regent of Bengkayang, Jacobus Luna, delivered similar expectation, hoping that the forty participants can help the regional government in accounting.
Meanwhile, Senior Vice Rector for Administrative, Finance, and Human Resources Development, Prof. Ainun Na’im, M.B.A., Ph.D, said that the success can be applied in their working place.
The program, according to the Senior Vice Rector, is a combination of the implementation of University’s three duties. Apart from giving knowledge and skills, UGM also demands graduates to maintain ethics and morale as well as Pancasila values. “All those values are also UGM’s values. These are all important foundation in order to get good result of regional finance accountability.
