As many as 80 staff from UGM Security Unit followed training to deal with fire. The training was held for four days, 6-9 April 2010 at UGM Unit’s office. Head of the Unit, Drs. Noorhadi Rahardjo, M.Sc., said that the training is very necessary because UGM campus is vulnerable to threats of fire, particularly laboratories that have many explosive substances. The member of the unit should master the way to deal with the threat even though only the basic, especially in using simple fire extinguisher tools.
Besides that training, they were also given training on several other cases such as how to treat the fire victims, professional ethics, how to make disaster’s report, and how to handle street vendors. In the implementation of training, the Unit cooperated with Office of Fire, Disaster Management and Community Protection of Yogyakarta City Government, Binamitra Bureau of Yogyakarta Regional Police, Police Unit of Sleman Regency and Faculty of Psychology UGM.
