In facilitating registration process and expanding access, for the first time National Selection to State Universites (SNMPTN) is conducted online. That way, the selection committee 2010 is also able to expand the utilization of information and communication technology among the public as part of educational process.

According to Director of Academic Administrative of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Dr. Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, D.E.A., D.E.S.S., the online system will educate people to be honest (self-declaration), it also saves money and is effective in various service aspects. “This way can avoid possible cheating of  SNMPTN forms and reform bureaucracy to improve public services,” he said, Thursday (6/5) during the  Socialization of the SNMPTN in Grha Sabha Pramana, Bulaksumur.

To the 288 headmasters of state/private Senior High Schools and Islamic High Schools throughout Yogyakarta Province, Budi Prasetyo explained that the committee still opens opportunity for graduates of year 2008-2009 to participate in this selection. For those graduates, online registration can be done from 2-14 May 2010 and payment from 2-12 May 2010. Meanwhile, for registration and payment of graduates of year 2010 is from 2-31 May 2010. “The SNMPTN will be conducted between 16-17 June 2010 and for those who choose Arts and Sports Department, the skill test will be conducted between 18-19 June 2010,” Budi explained.

Budi explained the online registration mechanisms of SNMPTN 2010. The ten steps are: payment through  Mandiri Bank's counter/ATM/internet banking, supplying ID cards. For those who use passports, the payment is only done at the counter or internet banking, and when making the payment, candidates should write down the number of the ID card and the test group (Natural Sciences/Social Sciences/Mix of both sciences). “The cost is Rp150,000,00 for Natural or Social Sciences and Rp175,000 for both,” he explained.

Budi explained that after paying, candidates will have the receipt consisting of candidate’s identity number, 16 characters of SNMPTN PIN number. The identity number is confidential and can not be shown to other people. Further, candidates can register online by clicking http://www.snmptn.ac.id and clicking  “Registration/ Pendaftaran”. “Before doing online registration, candidates should prepare payment receipt, ID card, copy of certificate, 4x6 cm of latest photo in JPG or PNG format and max size of 100 kb,” he added.

The next step is login by typing identity number and SNMPTN PIN number. Then, they fill the registration form carefully based on the instruction. The data should be true. “Fault/ manipulation of the form can cancel the acceptance in intended  state university and the candidate should save and print the Registration Card file. The candidate is expected to attach a Rp6000 stamp duty on the available receipt and to sign it on stamp’s part. The stamped and signed card is used as participant's Identity Card of SNMPTN 2010 and it should be retained and brought with during the test,” said Budi.
