Yogya (KU) – UGM robot team succeeded to win the Indonesian Robot Contest for Region III zone which covers Yogyakarta, Central Java, and Kalimantan. The contest was held at Stadium of Yogyakarta State University, Saturday (15/5).
The competition that was attended by 61 teams from seven state and private universities consisted of the Indonesian Robot Contest and the Indonesian Intelligent Robot Contest, which consists of wheeled robots, legged robots, and Battle robots. Overall, the UGM team was the champion of robot contest and awarded the Best Design and Strategy. In addition, UGM was also successful to be the first winner for wheeled intelligent robots, legged intelligent robots, and the Best Strategy.
Further, for robot contest category, the champion was UGM Garuda Team, followed by In The Moesty Team from Banjarmasin State Polytechnic in second place, and Roro Jonggrang 2010 Team from Diponegoro University third place, and the consolation winner was Abu Robocon from Sultan Agung Islamic University, Semarang.
For wheeled robots, the first champion was UGM Ironfire team, the runner up was AB Genetron Team from National Technology Academy of Yogyakarta, and the third winner was An Nuur Team from Sultan Agung Islamic University. The champion in legged robot category was Grafika 02 from UGM followed by R2C Octopus Team from Satya Wacana Christian University, Salatiga. Â
Meanwhile, the champion for Battle category was Al Aadiyaat Team from Yogyakarta State University, followed by RC2 Battle Team from Satya Wacana Christian University Salatiga, and the third winner was Elsadha Team from Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta. There were also special awards for UNY Team (The Best Design and Innovation) and UGM (the Best Strategy). Â
The winners of the this Contest will represent the region at the national level in July in Malang. Furthermore, the national champion will represent Indonesia at the International Robot Contest in Cairo (Egypt) and the winner will be facilitated to participate in the international robot contest in California (USA).
Director of UGM Student Affairs, Drs. Haryanto, M.Si, by phone on Sunday (16/5) expressed his gratitude and happiness over the success of UGM team. "Alhamdulillah, we gained the championship," he said.
Haryanto stated that the success can not be separated from the support of everyone who has been fully involved since the preparation until the contest, especially students, supervising lecturers, management team, and supporters. "Hopefully, this success could lead to the national level and could represent Indonesia for the first time in Cairo (Egypt)," he hoped.
