UGM students are again participating in the international arena. This time, UGM sends Adhita Sri Prabakusuma, Department of Agricultural Cultivation student, Faculty of Agriculture, to the 2nd International Agriculture Student Symposium (IASS) 2010. The event will be held at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) from 11 to 20 July. IASS is a symposium held by the UPM for students to share ideas and experience about agriculture. This time Indonesia send two delegations, specifically from UGM and IPB.
When we met him at the Faculty of Agriculture on Wednesday (7/7), Adhita mentioned that he passesd the selection which was held by the University thanks to his research paper entitled Fertile and Shining. This student of 2005 class will present his research which utilizes waste of snake fruit (salak) into bioethanol in the upcoming IASS. In the event that raised the theme Agriculture: Sharing and Collaborating for the Future, Adhita will also follow the discussion for six days with four topics, that is: food, environment, agricultural technology, and agriculture. In addition, he will also follow public lectures, visits to several institutions, such as agricultural research and development center and several university laboratories in Malaysia. "Later, I will also perform Indonesian cultural show at the cultural performance night event. I will sing a keroncong (Javanese traditional song) song," said the man born in Sragen on February 13, 1988.
Ahead of his departure, Aditha made preparation and practice. He routinely practices his presentation and deepens the material that will be presented later. All matters related to this event have been prepared well. Adhita has indeed been frequently attending various symposiums and contests at the national level. However, being a conference delegate at the international level is his first experience. "It’s my first time going overseas. So, it’s a mixed feeling, but I just pray that everything will be fine in time," he hoped.
