UGM archivist, Herman Setyawan, A. Md, was the second winner of the National Outstanding Archivist in 2010. In the event held by Ministry of National Education, he obtained a score of 82.27, competing with Bambang Handoyo, S. Pd, from the General Affairs Bureau of the Secretariat General of Ministry of National Education who came first with 82.33.
In the three days competition from 22 – 24 June, 2010 in Jakarta, 21 participants coming from various universities and institutions under the Ministry of National Education participated. Each participant conducted competence test with materials including personality, archiving knowledge, archival practices, interviews and job reports.
UGM Head of Archives, Drs. Machmoed Effendi, M. Hum, expressed his pride and appreciation. The UGM achievement this time added to the previous achievements. Archivist Zaenudin, A. Md, was the runner up of Archivists Model in 2009. In 2007, UGM Archives was selected the Best Archives at the National Level. Further, Machmoed Effendi explained that UGM Archive is now the member of the International Council Archives (ICA) on the Institutional Research University Archives section with membership number C-2388/2010-ICA, making UGM Archives the only university archival institution in Indonesia and third in ASEAN. "By becoming an ICA member, UGM researchers who want to get data from archival institutions that are members of ICA no longer have to come to those archival institutions. They simply access the data from the UGM Archive," he concluded.
