YOGYAKARTA – UGM teams dominated Roboline Follower Contest 2010 organized by the Student Association of Electrical Engineering recently. They are Kui Hao robot (first winner), Stardust (second winner), and Megophyrs (third winner). In addition, UGM’s Flash robot also gained the Best Design.
.
Pramudita added, in the championship yesterday they used photodiode and IR sensors, each totaling 10 units. Eight (8) pieces are installed in front and two pieces are on the sides. Eighteen of the sensors in front are directly connected to the IC ATMega 32 input pins, while the two side sensors are connected first to the IC comparator board then connected to the IC ATMega 32 input pins.
"The brain of the Stardust used ATMega IC 32. Programs that contain algorithms are embedded in this IC to process input conditions that are read by the sensor and generates the condition for actuator or motor movement," Pramudita explained.
Meanwhile, for the Megophyrs robot, Yeyen explained that it is actually not much different from other robots in terms of mechanical or electronic. But a few elements/components and strategies are run a little differently from other robots. "We have a different strategy but the mechanical and electronic characteristics are the same," Yeyen said.
With these results, each team was awarded a certificate and cash. Those that have satisfactory outcomes will participate on the upcoming championships, including Ganesha Line Follower Robot (Galelobot) 2010 in Bandung,.
UGM has been leading in the robot championships/contests both at regional and national levels. For example, in the Indonesian Robot Contest in Malang, UGM won Wheeled Indonesian Smart Robot Contest (KRCI) 2010, the third champion of Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI), the runner-up of Legged Indonesian Intelligent Robot Contest (KRCI), and Best Design through the Gadjah Made robot in Indonesia Art Robot Contest (KRSI).
As previously reported, as many as 87 robot teams from 11 universities from all over Indonesia followed the Roboline Follower Contest. Teams participating in the competition were UGM, ITB, Jakarta State Polytechnic, Trisakti University, UNY, ITS and Padjajaran University. Roboline Follower Contest is an annual activity with the theme of UGM Techno Corner. In this competition, robots raced one another on the black striped path.
