MAGELANG- Technical service post of Civil Engineering Department (Posyanis-KMTS), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is giving services and conducting programs for Internally Displaced Persons affected by the eruptions of Mt. Merapi. One has been done at the Blabak paper factory in Mungkid, Magelang.
The team has made a laundry tank, drying place and emergency toilet in cooperation with the Public Works Agency. Social activities include learning with schoolchildren, movie watching, cleaning ashes and debris, knitting and beads making as well as Koran reading.
The team is assigned to work in two locations at the Secretariat and on the field. They are guided by Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., Ph.D., cooperating with MPBA UGM team, Comdev Merapi UGM team, DERU (Disaster Emergency Responsive Unit) UGM, and Architecture UGM team.
