YOGYAKARTA – Koesnadi Hardjasoemantri Cultural Center (PKKH) Universitas Gadjah Mada will hold a a cultural oration presenting Emha Ainun Nadjib and Kyai Kanjeng show on Wednesday (29/12) night. The cultural oration raised the theme For Indonesia from Truly Special Jogja.
According to the PKKH Chairman, Dr. Ida Rochani Adi, S.U, in his oration Emha Ainun Nadjib or Cak Nun as he is familiarly known, will reflect a variety of social, political and cultural issues facing Indonesia recently. This will be preceded by poetry recital by the Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M. Eng., Ph.D.
In addition to cultural oration, painting exhibition from 102 professional artists will be held, among others, Heri Dono, Joko Pekik, Edi Hara, Nasirun, and Kartika Affandi. The exhibition will last until January 3. "The cultural oration and art exhibitions are open to the public," said Ida to the reporters on Tuesday (28/12). Also accompanying Ida in the opportunity was, among other, writer Dr. Aprinus Salam, architect Dr. Ir. Sita Adhisakti, and artist Yuswantoro Adi.
These are the beginning of a series of events scheduled by PKKH. Art exhibition is planned to be held on a regular basis, presenting literature and theater performances, and music festivals. "We want to raise young children as new artists and writers," said Aprinus Salam the coordinator.
It is said by Sita Adhisakti, the activities are expected to raise PKKH as one pool of arts and culture in Yogyakarta. "We want to invite the young generation to appreciate the works of the artist," he said.
Yuswantoro Adi said many artists from Yogyakarta wanted to participate in the exhibition. However, they selected a variety of works about 102 works of 102 painters. "About 10 percent came from the academia," he said.
Yuswantoro added that the establishment of PKKH for art exhibitions strongly supports the development of arts and cultural life in the city of Yogyakarta. In Yogyakarta which has many artists, galleries for exhibitions are still lacking.
