YOGYAKARTA – UGM Department of History Faculty of Cultural Sciences will hold the 60th anniversary commemoration event. The department was established on January 23, 1951, thus Department of History is one of the oldest departments.
Balikpapan Prosecutor’s Office in East Kalimantan said Wednesday the son of the city mayor, Dimyatie Reza, would soon stand trial for his alleged drug abuse, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in jail.
Yohanes Priyadi, head of general crime division at the office, told tempointeraktif.com that the office had handed over the dossier of the case to the local district court and has formed a team of prosecutors for the case.
Dimyatie, son of the mayor Imdaad Hamid, was arrested early in October, with two other men, when they were caught taking crystal methamphetamine (locally known as shabu-shabu) by police officers in Stal Kuda area.
"The presence of alumni organization is also expected to contribute both to the almamater as well as to the community," said Chairman of the Department of History, Drs Adaby Darban, SU, in a release sent Friday (21/1).
The reunion is to be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM, starting at 08.30 until 15.00 pm, featuring various activities. "Of the 800 alumni, around 300 alumni will attend," said the reunion committee chairman, Bagus Kurniawan.
Bagus added the reunion conducted at the same time with the department’s anniversary at the Faculty’s Auditorium would also be enlivened with the tumpengan (rice-cone cutting ceremony) event and scientific oration by one of the alumni, Ita F. Nadia, Director of Kalyanamitra NGO. Ita is an alumni of the History class of 1979. "Along with the event, the declaration of the Alumni Family of History of Gadjah Mada (Kasagama) will be held," he said.
The top of the event will be held at noon on the front terrace of the Margono Djojohadikusumo building. Several alumni of all classes from the first batch will pass several testimonials or remembering the old days in college. Some alumni who will attend the event include former Chairman of LIPI, Prof. Dr. Taufik Abdullah, Dr Anhar Gonggong, former Kompas’s journalist P. Swantara, Mukhlis Paeni, Vice Regent of Sleman Yuni Satiya Rahayu and artist Gugun Gondrong.
