On 24 January 2011, Professor of UGM, Prof. Dr. Siti Chamamah Soeratno has her 70th birthday. To preserve the tradition and honor her devotion and services, the UGM Department of Indonesian Literature and UGM S2 Literature Study Program held a tribute for her with the theme Trace and Direction of Literature and Culture Transformation.
"We collaborate with the University of Tanjungpura Pontianak and K.P.H.H Sumargono Kusumodiningrat for this event," said one of the committee members, Dr. Aprinus Salam, Sunday (23/1).
Aprinus said that the event is held for two days, January 24 and 25, 2011 at UC. The event is scheduled to be opened by the Governor of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan HB X. In the event, Prof Chamamah’s book entitled Literature: Theory and Methods will be launched.
The event that is expected to be attended by more than 250 students, colleagues and friends, will also present testimonies, delivered by among others: Amien Rais, GBPH Joyokusumo, KPH Sumargono Kusumohadiningrat, Chairil Effendi and I Dewa Putu Wijana.
"Those who will give testimony are Malik Fadjar, Hatta Rajasa, Amien Rais and Patrialis Akbar," Aprinus added.
On January 25, the event will feature an International Seminar that will identify and map the problem of Indonesia’s culture and literature building.
The seminar will present speakers from Indonesia and abroad, such as Henri Chambert-Loir (EFEO-France), Muhammad Haji Salleh (USM, Malaysia), Prof. Dr. Siti Chamamah Soeratno (UGM), Prof. Dr. Heddy Shri Ahimsa Putra ( UGM), Prof. Dr. Chairil Effendy (Pontianak), Prof. Dr. Yudiaryani (ISI), Prof. Dr. Titik Pudji Astuti (UI), Dr. Juliasih (UGM) and Dr. Kun Zachrun Istanti (UGM).
"Materials of the seminar will be collected into a book by the title Trace of Literature and Culture," he concluded.
